A mature, wild, African male lion with a big mane, and several scars, kills a young water buffalo by biting it on the throat. (This is graphic, but not bloody or gory, nature violence). After the Cape buffalo dies, he drags the corpse away through the savannah grass and comes to a young adult female lioness. He drops the kill and she affectionately greets him with ecstatic rubbing of his chin and face. She then begins to lick the corpse in anticipation of eating. But both lions sit and wait, possibly for the other members of the pride or possibly until the photo safari vehicle pulls away. A light, barely visible, rain falls.
