If you make a copy of a brain and even if you connect it with a new, different but fully compatible body then the original brain still has an adventage of having memories and knowledge of the original body.

Pawel - sure, because memories and knowledge reside in the kidneys right? Your memories and knowledge are part of your mind, which exists in solely in your brain, so with accurate whole brain emulation you'd still have all of them.

  • I really like this guy. He seems to have a very accurate and constructive view of reality. I wonder if he's read Lysander Spooner? Many of the same issues apply to synthetic minds that applied to the slavery issue of Spooner's time.

The second question sounds like it came from Bob Novella, from the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe podcast.
