This past July at the Toronto Gibraltar Point Artscape Luminous Bodies residency, I organized a boat trip along the contours a few kilometers beyond the Toronto Islands where a Lake Ontario was lowest since the last Ice Age about 11,000 years ago. Ancestors of First Nations peoples moved inland as the water levels rose to their present levels. I am working on a video installation with still images and video footage from seven cameras positioned around the boat. Six were operated by people and one was tied onto the stern.
Thank you to camera operators Teresa Ascencao, Emma Eichner, Johann Louw, Alisdair MacRae and Samantha Staves, and to skipper Manuel Cappel.
