We have a habit of escaping to the south of Oregon, to the Lower Umpqua river and a cabin on the banks. There is no cell service and no internet. It is heaven. It creates a sense of place, momentous in its solitude and yet togetherness. We are a busy agency. We work late. We work on the weekends. Twice a year, we have to shut it down, put the canoe on the truck and load up the gear to be reminded why we call Oregon home.
We bring cameras. We sketch. We strategize and we create. Can't help ourselves. This is our hobby as much as our paycheck. Yes, the red balloon became a metaphor.
