7. The Barat Foundation's 2nd Annual Newark Arts Parade
2 years ago
These are scenes from the 2nd Annual Newark Arts Parade on Friday, October 23, 2009.

The Barat Foundation at 765 Broad Street was transformed into a perpetual workshop where hundreds of students, arts organizations, and volunteers worked on the lightweight giant sculptures called Animodules, preparing for the parade.

Terry Brewin, creator of the Animodules, began the tradition with The Barat Foundation in 2008. These giant Animodules have become a popular mainstay in exhibits around Downtown Newark and are on permanent display at the Foundation.

Local Institutions, Businesses, Government, and a large community of Newarkers made this happen, and the Barat Foundation wishes to thank the Newark Arts Council, the Prudential Foundation, Cogswell Realty, the Newark Public Schools Department of Performing and Visual Arts, the City of Newark, Benjamin Moore Paint, United Way, PSE&G, the Port Authority of NY&NJ, Newark Now, the Newark Housing Authority, and the Victoria Foundation for their generous support and goodwill!

What does it take to make something so unusual? Stay tuned...
