workers of dubai - Shot on a canon 7D, 50mm f/1.8 Canon Lens, at 30fps on the shutter.

Edited on Final Cut Pro, Text on After Effects, Graded using Magic Bullet Looks

Audio - Jon Foreman 'Equally Skilled'

Apologies for the artifacts and out of focus shots - still learning the camera. Would it be worthwhile shooting in 720p at 50 or 60fps and then converting it into 24p in the final sequence [NOT slowed down tho, NOT using cinema tools]?!?! - Philip Bloom, help?!

The title fits. Beautiful. Come on pushing on. Can you provide some background on the concept of the video?

    hey bud.

to be honest, thought about going further with the texts but then also thought 'less is more', especially in this case.

When i shot this i spoke to all the workers and the words written next to each person is some aspect of their personality that i've picked up on.

I went out early a few mornings ago to shoot a few scenes around Dubai just for some stock footage, and in the process caught a few close ups of some of the workers close to where i work, literally outside my office. When I looked at the images I was amazed at how striking the faces were - something beautiful about eastern/poorer cultures and the uniqueness of their countenances. Thus my strategy changed and i decided to just shoot faces that morning. Thought i'd try and put it all together to show a different aspect of life in Dubai.

I still drive past these guys everyday. Amazing how their faces are now ingrained into my mind.

Hey buddy. Great looking stuff. Really convincing footage.

Does the camera capture in AVC HD 1080 and 720 like the panasonic version?
  • Salomon 1 month ago
    Thanks.

it is h.264 so you have to convert it to prores before editing.

it can shoot both 1080 at 24/25/30p and also 720 at 50/60p for the slowmo.

    it is an amazing camera

Hey Salomon. Very nice portraits! I was wondering. Did you hand hold most of these shots? Or used a Monopod or something like that for a bit of stabilization?

    Good work!
  • Salomon 1 month ago
hand held. its VERY shaky as you can see. The settings of my camera should have been tweaked a little to compensate, but this was like the 2nd day out with this camera and i didn't really know what i was doing
