According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the prevalence of blindness in Liberia is estimated at 1% with about 35,000 afflicted citizens. Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness in Liberia. More than 17,000 people have lost their sight to the condition. Additionally, 3% of the total population suffers from visual impairment.
In 2013 Relief, Inc. hosted an eye treatment project in Liberia.
