Real Community in partnership with the Aboriginal Corporation for Sporting and Recreational Activities (ACSRA) held an Amazing Race Day on the 2nd August around Civic in Canberra for indigenous kids as part of the Indigenous Youth Careers Pathways Program (IYCP). The day was extremely successful with all the kids having lots of fun!
Real Community provides direct service and support to the diverse community sector, through a range of different programs and projects such as the Indigenous Youth Careers Pathways Program (IYCP). Through the IYCP Real Community supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at a range of schools across the ACT and Southern NSW in the brokerage of School Based Traineeships that assist in creating a pathway to ongoing education and employment success. The program aims to inspire and support indigenous students, including younger students, to complete their schooling and make an effective transition to further education or a job through inspirational activities and events. As part of the program, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are provided personal mentoring and case management to help them manage issues that make the move from school to work difficult. During the program Real Community partner with the students, their families, local schools, employers, training providers and apprenticeship centres to provide a comprehensive network of support for the life of the traineeship.
