an army of squirrels hahahahha !!
This was a brilliant report Bill ! I loved the little girl at the end. But the last images were pretty sad...I hope nobody got injured or worse..
  • SteveR 6 months ago
No-one died, I'm happy to say. However, there was one reported minor injury:
    news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7266136.stm

    Im damaged mentally.

In San Francisco, unless the roof is falling in, we just roll over and go back to sleep...

If we get 1 inch of snow the country grinds to a halt. Rail networks regularly shut down due to "leaves on the track". We dont do disasters here in the UK.

First the torrential downpours of last summer and now this. What's next -- swarms of locusts? I'm keeping my eye on the Midlands...

Armies of killer squirrels according to SteveR.

HAHA! Beautiful Battleship Potemkin reference! Anyone who's been forced to sit through that entire film should be congratulated for referencing it in exchange for their suffering.
  • Bill 6 months ago
I wonder if Eisenstein has a vimeo account?
  • Ben Millett 6 months ago
I liked that reference, too. I didn't think it was that bad, but didn't see all the hoopla about it, either.

Glad you're all ok! Especially love the re-enactments!

I feel the worst for the guy that thought his house was being "burgled."
  •
  • hahah the re-enactment is perfect.the music is ace

oh man this is so good! haha

    Eisenstien would be so proud.

Oh god the music was giving me an anxiety attack the whole time.

I remember one day we watched so much Eisenstein in class afterwards I felt like i had just gotten assaulted by a gang of bandits. I had to clutch my chest, i couldn't breathe.

    haha

    this is so good.

Eisenstein seems to have this effect on peolple. I used to think it was the era....that we find it hard to watch his movies nowadays, but my lecturer told me it was the same then....people would flock to see Charlie Chaplin and stay at home if it was Eisenstein. People prefered escapism to realism....and obviously still do!

I want to go to his house for a 'bucket' of curry. Great collection of interviews.

Nice interrogating of SteveR. Mr Paxman would applaud. Next time, though, use some nut crackers so we can find out more about these frightening squirrels.

That's one of the funniest things i have ever heard!

We had trouble with squirells a couple of years ago, LMAO!

SteveR has a phobia about Squirrels I think.

As a former Californian, I must say that you've captured the drama of seismic activity quite realistically at the beginning of this video. It was almost like going through an earthquake again! Platetectonic, man!

  • Pirata718 6 months ago
i just noticed you have a tag "wibbly-wobbly" haha!
  •
  • wob ler 6 months ago
i was disgusted at the bbc reporting of it to be honest, all my excitement was replaced with bitterness, as they stood at the 'epicenter' and reported on the 8 bricks in the road that would have taken them 2 seconds to clear.
  • Bill 6 months ago
Alot can be discovered from the careful scrutiny of bricks.
  • wob ler 6 months ago
you should go on 'you bet'

you know, if it was still on tv..

Wow! We never have anything like that in California! You must live in perpetual FEAR!!!

The stock footage added that "extra realistic" touch. (Although the the Tacoma Narrows Bridge was a wind event, it worked to add tension to the impending disaster!)

    Very good interviews.
    Also v good quake impressions.
Did SteveR ever think it might have been an army of squirrels trying to shake his house down?
  • Bill 5 months ago
    Thanks Amenon.
    SteveR blames everything on squirrels!
  • SteveR 5 months ago
I can hear them in my garden, plotting against me.....

In spite of claims that it is Another Animal, I am of the opinion that sometimes squirrels can save the day....
