A visit to the island of Salina in the Aeolian archipelago of Sicily in Italy. It's the time of the caper harvest in June 2009. Women rise at 4 AM and work until about 11 AM to harvest caper buds. The farmer shows and tells about the salting of the picked capers, which are fermented and used to give a unique flavor to food preparations such as pasta and seafood, meat, or vegetable dishes. Salina is beautiful in June!
