I'm also planning to get a Canon FD 50 mm f/1.8 lens to Panasonic GH1. As far as I know, via Canon FD lenses, GH1 loses it's AF feature. I really wonder that is it really difficult to focus manually while you're recording? In this context, do you advice to get a Canon FD lens for GH1?

Canon FD 50 mm should be given with the GH1 ! It's a fantastic tool. I have the f/1.4 and the older 55mm f/1.2 and they're both very good on a GH1. Wide open, it's not very sharp... the focusing ring is rather accurate. Focusing is not easy the very first time but with a little bit of practice, you get some nice results. Wide angle lenses may be harder to focus because of the size of the screen. With a tele, depth of field decreases and make the focusing easier (to my mind!). Beware of cheap chinese fd adapter, it works but the lens moves !
