After thinking of an idea for my Locative/Location-Bases project, I came up with placing myself as an object in numerous downtown Montreal locations. I pretended to take photos with a long lens 70-200mm (the longer the better). I attempted to change the location by placing myself in areas that are public, but as well are not usually surveyed from ground level (by a young man holding a big camera).

I originally thought that I would have created a reaction of hate since I was entering people's private space on a psychical and mental level. Many people ducked underneath my camera and then looked to see what I was taking, some people were curious, some people smiled, some people covered their face, and some people just kept walking. Not one person asked though what I was doing nor did anybody get angry at me.

I think that even though the results were different that what I had intentioned, it created a new experience for myself and explained how people have come accustomed to cameras in general. If we think of surveillance in our day and age, I think that in some ways we have become numb to the idea of "big brother" and keep on our day without questioning.
