i notice that the flares aren't perfectly level with horizon.. is this just an artifact of lens distortion or perhaps a way the adapter is lined up?

not a critique, just genuinely curious!

Yeah, I think the adapter is not leveled up properly. I tried tweaking it but then this really big truck came by and blew dust in my face!

Man, I need to find one of those lenses on ebay. My hack of an anamorphic doesn't look as nice :) vimeo.com/7256943

Thanks for doing these tests. What is the final spatial resolution after all the digital unsquishing of the image? I see that you posted 1920x800, but I am assuming it's some kind of "really wide" x 1080 image?

    wow that flare.
by the way why am I waiting for the truck to transform into a giant robot?

How did you pull that shot off without those horizontal lines buzzing with aliasing artifacts? Is it post-trickery?
I've been avoiding pointing my 7D at anything with horizontal lines, which is approximately 78.42% of the world.

Dudes, i'm freakin out and need to get going as fast as possible. I need to prepare a shoot taking place in a few days, client in my neck and would love to test before the shit rains down on me. So i have the Canon 5D from a friend, i have a 50mm 1.4 and i have a lens right next to me called ISCORAMA ANAMORPHOT 1,5x - 42 MC (bought it once for a Beaulieu Super8 set-up) and a c-Mount adapter, which i won't need i guess. Now what will i need to get this attached to the 50mm (cause this set-up obviously doesnt do the trick) and even if i just hold'em together i can already see that the super nice horizontal flares don't happen one bit. I love the footage seen here - and i would be jumping like jack flash if someone helps me out of my mysery - most of all, even if i manage to connect the canon 5d & 50mm 1.4 to the Iscorama 42 M C, looks like there won't be any cool flares... Why??
    Here's my lenses:

Dudes, this looks amazing. 2 Questions:

    1)
Anyone a clue how to get an Iscorama 1,5x 42 MC lens attached to a 50mm 1.4 Canon? (I found this lens in a beaulieu box we had in the basement. Comes with a c-mount adapter. )

    2)
Why, when i hold them together, it looks like there's no way the flares will ever look like anything we see in the movie above? Flares just don't look like those amazing nice horizontal stripes in the movie above...

thanks so much for any help.

Hey guys. I just bought an anamorphic lens called "Iscomorphot 8/2x. Isco-Gottingen". I was told I could use it with my GH1 but I don't understand how to? Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is to get some sort of step ring or something like that. Any advice would be wonderful.

I'm shooting a feature length comedy in Chicago next year (May) and and I'm looking for a DP that's good with the Mark iv. I was wondering if you would be interested.
