I figured combining the two would allow me to shoot small smoke rings through larger ones. So i had a mechanism lasercut that would allow me to actuate the diaphragm with a scavenged printer stepper motor through a microcontroller. The microcontroller also generates different envelope pulses for slow and fast rings. The gears sound awful but i left the sound in because i think the pulses sound kind of nice. Due to a 6-bit resistor ladder DAC the 'slopes' of the pulses are rather stair-like... MEEEP MEEEP :P
