Notape Inserted uses hardware-generated elements to deconstruct the visual language of electronic media. In most cases these elements are symbols used for navigating through content (by videorecorders, dvd-players etc.); in Notape Inserted the symbols themselves are the content. The visitor of an exhibition or the viewer of a short film programme is used to recognize symbols such as production equipment or bluescreens in front of an audience as mistakes, the work nevertheless plays with the imagination of the viewer whether it is an accident or not. The sound layer is as important as the visual layer; the audio effect giving the impression of a real video device repeatedly rewinding. At a certain point it becomes clear that these are no mistakes - and a story between the digital symbols develop.
