shot in a completely pitch black dark room. mounted a LED panel on the flash with gaff tape.

I have that. and recently used it for someone's thesis film. That's how much I trusted it...haha

But you could also get the beachtek so you have XLR inputs that go straight into the cam's mic input and eliminate that hiss..well I guess that was a problem in the 5Dmkii, I think it's gone in the 7D.

I need to get that too...just don't have enough money right now cause I'm saving up for glass. :-(

If by steadycam you mean, my arm, then yes. hahaha. This is just hand held, with my very graceful movement. haha.
