Had a little fun with our intervalometer last summer.
Captured some of our favorite things from our hometown before moving.

    Heyyy!!!

I saw that white angel statue lady at 1:40 when I was at Toronto for Nuit Blanche...! She blew a kiss at me and I fake-fainted.
    =) Small world.

Well, I guess we are in the same country...

At 30 frames per second per 1800 per minute 2 min 15 seconds is about 4000 frames. That's a little short of 30,000. I really enjoyed the time lapse and the video. Great work. Making time lapse is on my agenda with my new D5000.
  • NiWoTa Studios plus 14 days ago
I knew someone would mention this ;) Most of the clips are sped up, some close to 800%. We did the tally the other day, and it weighed in at over 31, 000.

    Glad you liked it !

I have been to so many of those places while visiting Ottawa! That same girl was working at the Beaver Tails place as when I went there! Great job with the vid.

Cool vid. I did not know the D80 had such video possibilities! What lens did you use? What aperture?

    Thanks
  • NiWoTa Studios plus 13 days ago
Thanks Nikhil ! We used the stock lens from the D90 18-55 (it's what we had ;) To help keep a constant depth of field, the camera was usually set to aperture priority.

How does an intervalometer actually work. I understand timelapse, but how do you get the smooth motion pans / tilts?
  • NiWoTa Studios plus 13 days ago
For the pans and tilts we used this telescope mount.

Hey Lise - C'est vrai - l'été passe tellement vite que c'est comme si s'était filmer en temps réel. ;)

I love time lapse videos like these. But yours is has just gone the extra mile and amazes like the whole combination of the photos, music and text put together to create a very interesting video.
Btw I've just signed up to vimeo and it is way better than youtube for creative, art, visual and cultural videos

I'm with Claude; even if the source material contained >30,000 frames, your output is still 30 FPS (or less) which means most of those frames were dropped during rendering -- otherwise your output would be leaping to 120+ FPS at times, which no video CODEC supports to my knowledge.

    Great video, though.
  • NiWoTa Studios plus 6 days ago
Hey Kevin / Glad you liked it - You're right, our output is 29.97 fps. But 30k+ only refers to the amount of pictures we took for this piece. Not the final QT.
