If you like history and relics of the past this episode is for you. All over the world Texas is known for its love of freedom and tough grit personalities. Larry "Satch" Sanders is no exception. There's not too many people who can say they own their own missile base. We met Larry Sanders on a early summer morning. The missile base was declassified in 1965 and has set vacant for over 40 years. The base housed an ICBM. That's an Intercontinental ballistic missile. These missiles kept the peace during the Cold War. For you younger folks that think the cold war was a nasty sickness that lasted 44 years it actually was a sustained state of political and military tension between the United States and Russia that lasted from 1947 to 1991. The Cold War got its name because each side had nuclear weapons that if used would've meant the destruction of the world. Many people don't realize that Texas played a large part in the Cold War by housing several underground missile bases. We were excited to get to take a look at one of those site. And since it is filled with water and there are so many mysteries about what's at the bottom we couldn't wait to send our camera to the bottom.
