This pond based GP design can either be powered by a hand-powered lever pump or can also be powered with electricity. The water flows into the wooden half-barrel that is lined with pond liner and filled with coco coir. In the barrel is growing water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica). The water exits the barrel and flows into the sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) grow area that is lined with pond liner and full of expanded clay pellets. The water ultimately flows back into the tilapia pond where we also grow water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and taro (Colocasia esculenta). This system was designed for the Garden Pool Haiti project with the Naturopath's Without Borders.
