Spooky Scary - GreyscaleGorilla 5 Second Entry
1 month ago
Created for the "Spooky Scary" 5 Second Project at Greyscalegorilla: greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2009/10/spooky-scary
Big thanks to:
Brayden McCluskey (brayden.mcc@gmail.com) and Dan Poole for the audio!
In the spirit of disclosure. I'm actually working on a final project and used this 5 second entry as a tester of the aesthetic I'm striving to develop. The animations are all done in AE with the Puppet Tool used to add the more fluid touches. I went to pains to develop the assets as large as possible in Photoshop to avoid scaling issues which I think a lot of raster based animations suffer from.
And, of course, as one eagle eyed Serge has already commented, I reached out to the masters of Monty Python for inspiration: youtube.com/watch?v=nKTj7KmxxdA

1 month ago Thanks Nick! Been deep in the creative well over the past few months nailing down my style. I'm working on a much longer animation for my final project and this little competition was the perfect tester! Your blog is a great resource for the community and these contests are just what we need to keep the juices flowing and creatives connected. Props to you for spotting that niche and for keeping up the good work! -

FAMOS
1 month ago I can see why you might think so and, given the influence that he had, I would definitely say I was a fan. However, I've never really drawn from him directly. This, of course, could change tomorrow. And perhaps I may even become a die-hard fan. You know, one of those creepy, obsessive types... -
