Traditional Nian, is a short animation project, which uses the style of Piying (shadow puppet show). The animation tells a story about two children find 'Nian'. 'Nian' is the name of a fabulous animal in Chinese traditional New Year story and it also is the pronunciation of 'Year' in Chinese (Mandarin). In this story children find 'Nian' means that people seek part of the New Year cultures, which have been forgotten. The aim of this project is for audience to learn more about Chinese New Year culture and to be interested in Chinese Piying, a shadow puppet show, through watching this film.
