"Leutton Postle prides itself on being a thoroughly English brand. Hailing from Stockport and Wolverhampton respectively, designers Sam Leutton and Jenny Postle have a soft spot for middle England normalities – the ones Martin Parr has made a career lovingly taking the piss out of. The label’s SS14 film is a cracker, shining a light to these mediocre eccentricities against the shadow of a lilac suburban paradise.

Filmmaker Amy Gwatkin worked with the duo again for the short, finding inspiration in Martin Parr’s ‘Signs of the Times’ series and one photo in particular: a sullen goth sitting next to her mother, captioned “Underneath it all, she really is a lovely girl.” This wry, tender comedy oozes out of the film as the endearing voiceover drawls on about living alone, middle aged imaginary friends and dogs as boyfriends past.
