This is an academic project under the module Interactive Art at National Institute of Design, India.
The installation environment is largely inert to human presence. The sign on the wall is the only element that catches attention and draws the viewer to come closer. Human hand sign on the wall looks simple and significant at the same time- simple because the signifier (human hand) is essentially a familiar object, and significant because of its placement in inanimate space and time.
By and large a pair of hands suggests balance and has many other connotations in all religions. The single hand conversely suggests incompleteness and hence its appearance invokes curiosity. The interaction and upward gaze of the onlooker initiates a conversation with the Hand.
Tools used: Kinect, Processing.
