Brazilian street art wizard GAIS is famed for his colourful abstractions. Already in August he transformed a large wall at Ubierring into an hypnotic mosaic of abstract forms and vibrant colours. His radiant “Kölors” now brighten up a formerly grey corner of Cologne’s Südstadt. We’re stunned! Muito obrigado no GAIS!
You are watching Gais AMA paiting his mural for CityLeaks Festival's second edition taking place from 2nd to 22nd September 2013. The mural is located At Ubierring 61a in Cologne, Germany.

ABOUT - Gais AMA
Starting out as a tagger in the streets of Rio de Janeiro in the 1990s, Gais has evolved into one of the protagonists on the vibrant Brazilian street art scene. Deeply rooted in the tradition of the Brazilian Neo-Concrete Gais’ radiant murals always reflect an intense meditation on form and colour. Both aspects are fused into highly abstracted maps that do not so much aim at depicting manifest structures, but rather seem to track those complex fields of power and energy pervading the urban space. Using his unique sense for composing both forms and colours Gais turns into a true cartographer of the city’s life pulse. Equally relying on geometric patterning, his mixed media collages typically assemble all kinds of pieces from pop and consumer culture and thus often evoke a substantial social critique. In 2006 he was co-founder of the cultural centre Severo 172 in Rio dedicated to the popularization of urban art. Ever since, he has presented his works on the occasion of numerous exhibitions and festivals in Brazil and Europe.
