did you regrade all the material from the originals to be specifically in this reel, or are we seeing here the footage as it actually appeared in various projects? The color sense is remarkably consistent (and v pleasing).
thanks!
The work shot on 35 was graded at a post house
I would say for a cinematograhers reel, this is of the best I've seen. Lighting, incredible, good to see someone not just using the sun as their lighting kit, framing and screen direction wonderful (which could be directors doing) still wonderful. Many times DP's are stuck with a bad directors decision and still has to put it on their reel. So if the director relied on you, or you had great directors (Kudos). Great choice of music, editing excellent. Most important length was perfect, DP's have a tendency to make reels too long, because they edit them and they love every shot (sure they do, they made them) but using every shot is not the definition of editing. Most of you know I don't give glowing reviews. Eric is getting one. Fellow DP's, this is how a DP's reel should look.
I certainly left a few shots that i loved on the cutting room floor...i think one thing that helps is keeping all of the footage you shoot, because the take that may be used for the film isnt necessarily best for your reel. A few shots or pieces of shots i have in here probably wont make it to the final product.
Enjoy your bright future man.

it shows your style. Great!
I notices one of the shots from a short i saw on NSI called Grand Wheel. Did you do all the cinematography for that film?? you weren't credited at all on that website ... cinematographers don't get the respect they deserve sometimes.
Stick it to the man \m/
I'd like to know how much did you color corrected it.
This is a really nice reel!
I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to videography (of course sometimes the situation requires a bunch of artificial lighting to achieve that look).
I really appreciate your work! thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for the inspiring work... and good luck...
I think despite its limitations the 5D is a great tool.
The 5D can give you lush, vivid imagery but at the same time you dont have much latitude in post to color correct whats been shot, and sometimes when you cant control the lighting its hard to get the exposure completely correct. That being said for the price point its impossible to beat...but any camera that allows you to use 35mm lenses is great for making films.
The lens flare was done in camera. On some i had a light panel shooting into the lens, on others i had a mirror reflecting the sun into it
i must admit, i'm jealous!
the portraits are fantastic!
thanks!

You would help me a lot! I'm on the search for my new pro camera and these shots were just left me speechless... Well done again! :)))) thanks
The shot with the girl in the desert :40 was with the RED camera and Arri Ultra Primes. The shots around 1:01 were on 35mm, the shots in the car at 1:22 were done with the 5D and a zeiss zf lens. All different cameras.
Actually at 1:22 are the shots after the car shots, with the blonde girl and the crystals at the light. 5d as well?
These are all expensive cameras.... I am jealous :) Powerful tools in talented hands. Best combination.
