"Love Junkie" is a metal funk grunge groove rap tune that's a pop cross-over number. Ocean produced the film that the music video was edited from in film noir style, in keeping with the theme of the rap song (in a style Ocean created in what she calls metalfunk) she wrote spoofing love addiction and its' over-the-top dramas.
Ocean wrote the song in a flash after having listened to a guy pal in NYC who'd been obsessing over his love-sex addiction to someone, causing her to realize how silly this sort of attachment can be, and how overly dramatic.
The "dummied down" lyrics help drive the theme.
