A Secret Serpent
They say still waters run deep. Lagarfljót river in east Iceland is not particularly still, but it is still one of the deepest waterways in Iceland. In the depths the serpent Lagarfljótsormur lurks. According to legend a young girl, whose plan to get more gold went awry, threw the serpent in the river and there it lives to this day. It reminds us of its existence every now and again – maybe you’ll see it’s scaled back arch up from under the surface or see his poisonous breath come up in strokes from the middle of the lake. Take heed – it might show up when least expected. - See more at: inspiredbyiceland.com/secrets/map/#secret77
