Despite the rain on Friday morning, approximately 1,000 PDS grandparents from around the country attended our biannual Grandparents' Day celebration.
The morning began with comments from Headmaster Lee Burns and a speech by 6th grader Tom Fowlkes. The grandparents then dispersed into glimpses of PDS, including looks at how we teach American History and how technology and brain research shape the way PDS educates in the 21st century.
The main attraction of the morning was the boys' program in the sanctuary. This years' program was a musical salute entitled "Celebrate America!"
This year, we were fortunate enough to have a special guest, General B.B. Bell. General Bell is one of eleven living Four Star Generals. As part of the program, General Bell addressed the boys and grandparents on sacrifice and patriotism, and he received two standing ovations.
