Native American Heritage Month Lecture Series: Alaska educator Jeane Breinig gives a lecture on what Native people thought about the prospect of statehood in Alaska, which became a state in 1959. Breinig is of Haida descent and teaches English at the University of Alaska. She researched this topic for Sealaska Heritage Institute and presented her findings during a November 2009 lecture series sponsored by the institute in honor of Native American Heritage Month.
