Speedy rescued this F-30 about 10 years ago and doesn’t really remember where from. He estimates that it’s been out of service for at least 40 years.

He decided it would be fun to rebuild it in one weekend while at the Sunny Plain antique show, with the goal being to get it running by Sunday afternoon. Speedy enjoys tractor pulling, but likes the “show” part of these events even more.

He put a lot of thought and planning into the project, collecting parts to replace any obviously unusable or missing ones and gathering other items in anticipation of the hidden problems that would make themselves known in short order once work was begun. He hauled everything he thought he might need plus a number of other show tractors to St. Matthews.

As for the tractor itself, the only things done to it beforehand were removal of the tire remains and a thorough pressure washing.

The project attracted a good many onlookers, many who returned each day to offer encouragement, and others who said he’d never get in running by Sunday.

Well, after 13 hours of work, another old Farmall came back to life! Thanks so much to everyone who pitched in. Speedy is already scheming on next year’s project.
