Automoto references the animation process by bringing a character to life from script to screen, in this case a dog. This film is made with hand built sets and repurposed found objects. In several instances the objects used are from the filmmaking process. For example the robot head is a stage light, his goggles are from an early 20th Century stereoscopic viewer and the neck is a fluid tripod head. The only CGI is the opening title and the steam effects.
