Joe, I thought this was brilliant. You captured beautiful images and combined them with an interesting story in a crafted documentary which was a pleasure to watch. You've pushed the boundaries of what ever I thought was possible with this camera and shown me what I should aspire to. Thank you for posting this.

WOW! Joe that was awesome! The camera really held up well and it had such a polished feel. The editing was flawless, swept you through the whole piece, never felt like i saw repeat footage! Nice one!

It's beautifully shot and skillfully edited. I liked the music off course.. and the titles.

Joe, Nice production, sound is great, pictures are fab too. Very surprising results from the GH1, I thought you just gone canon 7D now? All in all, a nice polished piece. When are you going to do a drama short Joe..?

    best wishes

Mark - Thanks for looking. Have gone 7D but shot this just before I did. Will use them side by side probably using the GH1 for things like the interviews etc and the 7D for the faster moving stuff. The GH1 is great though. Vastly under-rated. Not sure when I'll do another short. Making my living is first priority. Halfway through a feature script though... ;)

Great stuff Joe. Love what you've been able to do with the GH1. Seeing your stuff makes me want to hang on to it.
  • Joe Shaw plus 1 month ago
Definitely do. You got a 7D right? I think they will compliment each other really well. Certainly for the kind of work I'm doing.
  • dynomike plus 1 month ago
Joe, yeah I have a 7D as well. I've been thinking the same thing as well which is why I haven't pawned off the GH1 yet.

I really enjoyed this professional piece! hard to believe it was done with this camera Great job editing . What program did you use to do your little graphic titles of your dj and the dancers ?
  • Joe Shaw plus 17 days ago
Cheers Craig. The lower thirds graphics were made in After Effects.

and what did u do for sound, double system?
  • Joe Shaw plus 11 days ago
Johnny, I kept all the picture settings at 0. Sound was recorded on the Zoom H4N. Although a ot of atmos came from the onboard mic.

great stuff Joe. keep up the good work.

  • Can I ask why you would move to the 7d if you were getting such good results with the GH1?
  • Joe Shaw plus 6 days ago
Sure- I haven't moved to the 7D, I'm going to be using both. The GH1 is great for many things - but the codec does break up when there is fast motion. The 2 together covers all situations that I might run into with the work I do. Realistically the GH1 works pretty well for nearly all situations though - particularly interviews etc.
