This National Geographic Channel movie event documents the lives of people who experience the American Blackout - a fictionalized result of a cyberattack on the US power grid. For the promo campaign we wanted to capture that feeling of being completely powerless - both literally and figuratively. In this teaser shot by Stephen Shuster, written by James Introcaso and Design Directed by Carla Daeninckx, the show is introduced by a series of dark scenes naturally lit only by real sources - phones, candles, flames and flares. Much as the film demonstrates a gradual descent into darkness and eventually chaos, this teaser has a similar concept, going from simple iPhone lighting into more desperate sources by the ending. The sound was all taken from the film.
