With Gov. Tom Corbett repeatedly denying requests to release $45 million in frozen assets to the School District of Philadelphia, local schools and students are paying the price. In addition to the School Reform Commission shutting down 23 schools in March, the SDP also voted to eliminate the librarian position, which has closed all the district's school libraries. Central High School, in Logan, boasts of being one of the Top Ten schools in the state, but with students lacking Internet and library access, the digital divide will only worsen among its socioeconomically varied student body.
