American University took their brand out to the ballpark to raise awareness and institutional pride among fellow Washingtonians through a large all-immersive transmedia storytelling experience. We gave out 20,000 custom T's, threw an alumni picnic, printed banners, designed motion graphics for the scoreboards and LEDs, created interactive Wonk challenges, premiered a two minute short film to an audience of 38,000. The film linked, via the Twitter hashtag #AmericanU to a website (american.edu/wonk) featuring breakout stories and videos about the characters in the film. We finished the night with a fireworks display nothing short of the National Mall on the Fourth of July.
