."A man's interest in a single bluebird is worth more than a complete but dry list of the fauna and flora of a town." -Henry David Thoreau

Just collaborated with The Ghostship Poet, i.e. Derek Dixon, who not only provided the marvelous illustration as completed on a square piece of cardboard, but who also read the well chiseled wisdom with a striking air. I love this artists style you can see more of his work at etsy.com/shop/GhostshipsShantyShop.

Thoreau also said, “The bluebird carries the sky on his back.”

This is an original acrylic folk art painting on recycled cardboard. It features free thinker, naturalist, and transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau. Here Thoreau has his book for pressing flowers and telescope for watching birds. He's spying on an Eastern Bluebird. It is approx. 6 1/4x6 inches.

Note: I never ever use cardboard that was used to handle food, only clean scrap cardboard from packing boxes.
