Film by Eric Minh Swenson. Music by James Lucchesi.
Karrie Ross, a native of Los Angeles, California paints and draws tones, gradations of life...the internal musings.
The artwork featured in this film represents the current edition of her on gong journey of finding and joining the mediums of pen & ink, and watercolor. A journey that began in the 1970s and shows up as a new, advanced, edition every 10 years since. Exploring hands/feet; dancers; exploding volcano's and now the asking of questions, in the seeing of out and through. Through glasses and hands, birds and fish; gradations of energy out from questions ever exposed in the subject matter of finding a "safe home," a balance, in each piece.
The film narrative follows Ross' history of inspiration, beginning at 4 years old with a story of surreal fascination, moving along to 19 years old story that introduces her to the concept that everything has a vibration and ending with the remembering of her fathers hands. She shares her palette, technique, thoughts on painting in small spaces, and her never-ending joy of process.
