That was absolutely mesmerizing. I wish the phrase "I got chills" hadn't been used figuratively so many times in so many other places, because this time... I really did.

This is a poignant story. It makes me think of all of the soldiers sent to war now and the decisions they have to make to kill other young people.

I agree it is a mesmerizing and poignant story, but the real tragedy here is that Mr. Robertson has been suffering from the memory of it for decades! There is a science called DIANETICS that can help him overcome the debilitating grief of it. DIANETCIS is NOT psychiatry; it is much more effective.

A simple story so very well told. The costs of war are always, ultimately, carried by individuals. Thank you for this sadly beautiful little film.

    HI,
I work with Veterans and soldiers suffering the effects of combat trauma, and I am very moved by this man's story. The power is in the simplicity of the video. Stories like this need to be heard so we never forget the human cost of war.

Very quiet and moving, it's sad to think how many people must have terrible stories playing out over and over again in their minds when they close their eyes at night.
  • Rauch Brothers plus 2 years ago
True. We would like to think that in sharing this story, people can see the human struggle that binds us all together. That we are not alone in these experiences, and that we are more like our neighbors than we might imagine.

thank you very much for this. i'm sure there are many germans that could tell a very similar story...
it's a human tragedy. and recording stories like these makes us all realise what responsibility we have not to commit same mistakes again and again.

Quite amazingly done. This to me encapsulates all that animation can be. A compelling and genuine subject matter, wonderful animation, imaginative directing, all neatly wrapped up in an amazing bow. My hat is off to you, Rauch bros.

You should send this to all the politicians in this World. It would show them how profound the impact of their decision to begin and fight in a war with the citizens of their country is for these citizens!
