…Jacob left Beer-sheba and went toward Haran …And the Lord stood beside him and said … know that I am with
You and will keep you wherever you go, and will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
God continues to keep his Covenant promises for His children, starting with the Hebrews. Despite what we do and despite
our failings and even our trickery, He stands by and supports His people. He does what is necessary to honor and
keep the Covenant.
Jacob was a trickster and not everybody likes how he tricked his father and his brother. Maybe one of the reasons
we identify with Jacob comes from our deep desire that God will stand by us too, despite everything we do.
So, here we are in Circle Pines. We are still on our journey. We may not know what the future holds for us, but we
can be assured of who is going with us, for we have a friend, a friend who promises us, as He did to Jacob: “I will
not leave you, until I have done all that I promise to do.”
Thanks be to God!
