Flying the Western Lakes: Burnbank 8th November 2009
1 month ago
A surprisingly good afternoon's flying overlooking beautiful Loweswater and Crummock in the Lake District.
A mixture of unstable air, a bit of wave and the wind slightly off to the East led to a challenging experience for the time of year :-)
About a dozen or so pilots sampled the pleasures and we were rewarded two and a half hour's flying with beautifully clear air, a nice bit of exploring north and south, fantastic late autumn colours, and soaring up to cloudbase - slightly above for some of us er hem - (yeah OK it was only 2500ft but what do you expect in November!)
