back isolation tutorial - 11/10/09
Chika, GroovinMeggz, and Katie (Surprise!) asked me how to do this move, so here is a quickie tutorial. I learned this from Brecken when she taught a workshop in SF a few months ago.
I grabbed a small hoop to take to the park, for no other reason than that I thought the red would show up well against the grass. I didn't realize that I'd never done this move with a hoop this size, so the move ended up not being quite as isolated as it should be.
You can see Chika do it with a regular sized hoop at the 0:07 mark and the 1:52 mark. It's much more isolated due to the hoop size!

Chika saw Shakti do this move in a recent performance video. Shakti does it several times, but the first one is at the 0:29 mark:

Nicki Chaconas 28 days agoThis is awesome, beautiful Natasha!! You look great. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. What is your recommendation for how to keep the hoop as much on the vertical plane as possible while going in the backwards direction? Will that just come more naturally when the shoulders learn to be more flexible? It is very difficult to keep it straight! Love ya lady!
