1. Madeleine Bloom - Euphoria

This is the first music video from my debut album Minutia. You can get the song as a free download here: madeleinebloom.com/.
At the end of April '09 I visited my friend Jon in London. We never planned to shoot a video. in fact it was supposed to be my holiday.
On the second evening he asked me why I didn't have anything on youtube (because I had no video).
One thing led to another and all of a sudden we'd chosen the song and locations. So the next two days we could be seen filming all over London - Camden, Hampstead Heath, the Southbank, the Tube. Me slightly embarrassed by the fact that people were watching, staring, taking pictures (even shouting that I wasn't famous didn't help). Jon behind the camera rigged onto something that looks remarkably like a steering wheel.
The music came from my iPod with a tiny speaker, too little power to win against the din of London and was therefor more often than not inaudible. Tough job for Jon editing to get the lipsync working. He even had to do it twice because the first time round his external hard drive met its maker. Yet, finally half a year later here's the video.
Euphoria is about the excitement I felt when I moved to Berlin. All the possibilities! The thrill of the big city. I still get that feeling when I've been away for a while. Almost like having a first date. I also get it each time I visit London. So it's quite fitting we shot it in one of my favourite cities.
When you listen closely you can hear the sound of the S-Bahn rumbling on the tracks in the beginning and the choruses. There's also the sound of high heels clacking on the pavement, traffic light clicking and other sounds from close to my home in Berlin.
