From Scratch took place at The Drawing Room 02 - 17 July 2009.
It was a series of events exploring the legacy of experimental British composer Cornelius Cardew (1936–1981) and the Scratch Orchestra (1967-71).

From Scratch involved artists, musicians and writers in an exploration of the legacy of Cornelius Cardew through a forum, a performance of Cardew’s seminal work ‘Treatise’ (1963-7), workshops and a multi-disciplinary performance by DEME. These events introduced a new audience, in particular students and young people.

From Scratch was conceived in collaboration with ICFAR (International Centre for Fine Art Research) University of the Arts, London.
