CRATE presents an exhibition and walk by artist, Bridgette Ashton, entitled Margate Subterranea. The project is a new commission and a continuation of Ashton's series of Margate works originally launched at the opening of Turner Contemporary in 2011.

Margate Subterranea looks specifically at three underground ‘attractions’ in Margate: The Vortigern Caves, the Clifton Baths Estate and the Shell Grotto. Only one of the locations (the Shell Grotto) allow public access, whilst the others are in danger of dereliction. The pieces presented at CRATE survey ideas surrounding redundant or overlooked sites, objects and archives.

A model of the underground Clifton Baths is exhibited in the Davis Lisboa Mini Museum of Contemporary Art (currently being hosted in Margate) along with three publications based on the three sites.
