A photo of his wife in his left breast pocket, as close to his heart
as possible.
A little rock with a bee on it from his father who he never got to say
goodbye to before he died.
A Lego piece his son gave him in his shirt pocket to help keep him safe.
The dog tags of his father and grandfather from wars before.
A tattoo for his fallen best friend and for his wife who took care of him after being seriously wounded in his last deployment.

These are some of the things soldiers of the U.S Army's 2nd Platoon,
Apache Company of 2nd Battalion 87th Infantry Regiment on deployment in Afghanistan
carry with them in war.

Eight men. Eight stories. One common theme.
