Aurora 9 Switch Mod

A little demo of what the Aurora 9 can do if you give it 3 push button switches. No currently available radio transmitter features push button controls. The traditional toggle switches on this radio were replaced with momentary push button switches.

The push button switches reduce the pilot workload when compared with traditional toggle switches. The pilot doesn't need to mentally track the state of multiple switches or feel around to check the switch positions. Holding down a button creates continuous feedback that a mode is active.

Push buttons require much less physical movement to activate. This reduces the possibility of inadvertent control stick input when activating a switch.

Push buttons also allow very rapid switching between flight conditions. This allows quick changes to be made between tightly spaced or even integrated maneuvers.

The ergonomics of the Aurora 9 are not ideal for this configuration. The buttons are reachable by both 'thumb' and 'pinch' style fliers. Better placement of the buttons as well as allowing more space for finger rest areas off the buttons would enhance usability.
