Three works by Pat Law: Presence, Leaving Pyramiden, Abandoned.

In September 2012 I participated, along with filmmaker Richard Ashrowan, in an Arctic expedition sailing on a tall ship around the coastline of Svalbard. In August 2013 we exhibited work stemming from the expedition; my contribution shown here, consisting of moving image, salt drawings and a muslin tent installation, responding to the desolation and isolation of the forgotten communities of Svalbard, in particular, the deserted Russian mining town of Pyramiden. In the first work, 'presence' I invited singers Kirsty Law (Scotland) and Arna Guðný Valsdóttir (Iceland) to interact specifically with the work, giving a live voice performance on the opening night.

The Arctic Circle expedition was supported by Creative Scotland.
