This is Great!! Nice work!! For the Glidecam 2000, do you use the arm and waist brace? Or just the handheld?
  • GEBBS plus 2 years ago
Handheld :) Lots and lots of practice (3-4 years)

WOW this looks great, what picture style were you using?
  • Steve Staffan plus 2 years ago
Also did you use any noise reduction or anything? It looks incredible! What were your setting when you were shooting?? ( ISO, shutter, etc. )
  • GEBBS plus 2 years ago
I believe the cameras were set to neutral and then it was color graded in Sony Vegas using the curves and 3 way color corrector. ISO varied from probably 100-3200, shutter varied from 30-1000, aperature usualy wide open except for some of the outside stuff. Thanks for commenting...

well done! few thoughts (if ya care); the audio up front caught me off guard; was a bit distracting (couldn't hear it; didn't want to b/c it ripped me out of that glorpious motion), perhaps it was the on-board mic making everything too present; thought the tearful note was a great touch, though-well shot/cut; loved the wide rock shot at the end; wouldn't freeze the final frame (even if it's moving, send it to black in motion)...gorgeous looking stuff; especially liked the lights at the dance; the veil shot...lots of good; i tend to mention the tweakables b/c the good, is, well, good!

Love your work. This is an awesome piece. The end shot is my favorite. In post did you blur the cage more or was that the real DOF? Also if you can remember what lens was used for that?
  • GEBBS plus 2 years ago
Thanks a lot man I appreciate it :) The last shot was all natural and I'm pretty proud of it. It was shot with a nikon 50mm 1.4 and was actually shot in reverse.

very nicely done. I think what separates this from many wedding films...not unlike stillmotion....is the editing with the music. Your emotions are led down a path to the ending you want the viewer to arrive at. Excellent! One question...i'm running vegas 9.0 as well and my 7d comes in today...do you have to convert the files with cineform...won't vegas handle them raw?
  • GEBBS plus 2 years ago
Thanks Robert for the compliment, I really do appreciate it a lot!! I've worked very hard to get to where I am and still continue to grow and strive for more every single day :) I'm actually on Vegas 8. Vegas 9 was really buggy...I do all my color grading in Vegas with the 3 way and the curves. I've not found a pc yet that will handle the RAW .movs in Vegas. They play at like 4-8 frames per sec even on our i7 quad. For the absolute BEST stability in Vegas convert everything using Cineform Neo Scene. On my quad core laptop it is real time conversion. Then everything works GREAT and the latest update handles the 7D 60p/24p..make sure you get that or you will have problems. Hope that helps. Thanks again for watching ;)

Great job! I noticed a lot of movement on some of the shots, but I didn't notice any rolling shutter issues. How did you do it?
  • GEBBS plus 2 years ago
As long as you are using some type of stabilizer you should be good to go (monopod, glidecam, slider, tripod). Just don't use it handheld---then it's not pretty. Thanks for the comment :)

    Hi,

I have just purchased the 7d yesterday and am trying to get to grips with it.

Regarding your rendering settings in Sony Vegas, please could you kindly list the settings when exporting. like is your video VBR or CBR? Two pass? etc. Is the format wmv?

I don't have a mac. only work on pc and am finding the whole converting/transcoding the cameras Quicktime files VERY confusing. Can I not just edit the quicktime files in vegas straight off the camera?

If I can get this sort of quality from my camera and am able to have the same rendering settings as you, I will be very happy.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jonty

VEGAS does ROCK!!! Hey big guy great work. How long generally are your wedding films?
  • GEBBS plus 1 year ago
My SDE only package, you get all day coverage, the SDE (3-5 mins), The full ceremony (very basic), full reception-intros, cutting the cake, speeches, first dance, and a little bit of fun dancing (very basic). Any kind of extended highlights are extra. I try to keep it nice and simple ;)

Very nice work, i could def tell where you moved the shutter higher than 50 a little choppy but really not to bad (or was it just my browser?).

I like vegas to, but wonder if i wont have to switch to final cut and mac eventually (oh no!).

Do you find you get along just fine with vegas?
  • GEBBS plus 1 year ago
Everything I've done has been done with Vegas, I have NO intention of ever using anything else or needing to. Vegas has made me a lot of money!! But that's just my opinion....I did use a higher shutter speed here and there....but there is nothing choppy about it, it must be your browser...
