A graceful and spectacular tandem paraglide flight off Grouse Mountain ski area in Vancouver, B.C.
I shot this footage on the 320 x 240 movie mode of my Nikon Coolpix 5400, which is why it looks rather "8mm" and crappy. I just held the camera in my lap as I floated down with my tandem pilot, Yaro at the controls behind me. Initially, I just filmed it, not really knowing what I would do with it. Most of the footage is from my POV, with my knees framing the shot. I combined this with two other short segments and still photos shot by Drew, of First Flight Paragliding, who was my wife Heather's Pilot.
I know paragliding is often thought of as this high-powered, action sport, but our flight was so peaceful and relaxing, and yet emotionally overwhelming. Since the audio was just peaked-out wind, I thought Rachmaninov was the perfect way to illustrate this amazing experience.
