Ryan Hopkinson was challenged to create a film and fully working sculpture for Sony using 100 Sony XPERIA Z smart phones and featuring Christopher Raeburns SS14 collection.

The origin of the project was a dual brief to challenge and push the technology of the smart phone whilst at the same time build a fully working installation that could potentially be placed in a fashion presentation, museum or space to be used by the public to create their own shoots.

The project was a collaborative effort with Hirsch & Mann and features Christopher Raeburn’s SS14 collection. This short film crosses the boundaries of art, fashion and technology by exploring the process of photography and film creation by utilising custom software, bespoke apps and a wireless control system around a sculptural spiral catwalk. The result is a hybrid blend of analogue, digital and in-camera techniques to create the world’s first spiral bullet time sculpture made entirely from smart phones.
